What services do you provide to the public?

The Whitecourt office is accepting new counselling clients. At this time, I provide individual adult counselling and consultation to parents. I am accepting select children and teen clients depending on goals. My work is focused on empowerment and making change. I also provide assessment services to Veterans.

What are your values?

You matter. You deserve to be heard. You deserve counselling that makes a positive impact. You have rights as a health care client.

I am in an emergency situation. What do I do?

Please call 911. For 24 Hour Support: Distress line: 780.482.4357 Mental Health Helpline: 1-877-303-2642

What happens in the first meeting?

We will meet from 50-60 minutes for an initial consultation. First, you talk about your situation, your concerns and what you need.

I will talk about my training in that area and how I practice psychology, including my recommendations. There are so many different types of therapy. We choose our training based on our values and beliefs. Take time to think about our conversation and if it feels right for you. If my approach fits your world, we can begin the process.

Can we have a no-obligations phone call first?

Yes. I would be happy to chat on the phone for 15 minutes to determine if my practice is the right fit for you. The first 15 minutes is free. The practice normally charges a fee for the full first meeting at the office/on zoom.

What approaches do you use to help?

Right now, I am highly interested in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), CBT, Transactional Analysis, and Narrative approaches. My work is heavily influenced by common factors research, the Polyvagal Theory, and the work of Dr. Bruce Perry and the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics. I aim to match to the development and values of whoever I am working with.

What are my privacy rights?

Your privacy is important to me. Our conversations are intended to be confidential and dignifying. If I am extremely worried about you or someone else, I will take steps to make the safety team bigger. If a minor needs to be protected, the laws of Alberta are quite clear about the steps I need to take to promote safety.

If we engage in any family work, we will outline boundaries and risks to privacy at the beginning.

I cannot protect your privacy on the internet. This includes if you use the form on this website or if you email me. Text message is only used by the office to confirm appointments.

When do you work?

I operate a part-time practice with hours that vary each week. If you require crisis support, I am unable to support moment to moment crises. Either a safety and/or crisis plan is made with appropriate resources while we work together or we identify services available for crises.

How much does it cost?

I am a Registered Psychologist in the province of Alberta. Fees are set by the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta and are currently $220 per 50 minute hour. I offer a 60 minute session. If this is outside of your budget, I may be able to provide lower cost services for a limited number of sessions. I am able to direct bill to insurance companies that allow it. If not, you can pay by debit, credit card or e-transfer and submit your receipt to your insurance.

Internet Communication

I am available through Zoom Pro if you would prefer to meet online. Your privacy is extremely important. Therefore, do not send personal information through text message or email. Save it for meetings. Text messages and email communication are only for scheduling appointments.

Are you available for work with couples for marriage counselling?

Yes, depending on the couple’s goals.

Are you available to provide an educational assessment to my child?

Not at this time.

What if I need to cancel?

Please cancel if you are sick or have sickness symptoms. I only get concerned or consider my late cancel fee if there is a number of late cancellations, at which point I may discontinue our work and refer you to another professional.

Who do you work with?

When I work in the office, practices are in place to honour your privacy rights. I share a space in Whitecourt with a colleague. I have a growing offsite administrative team, an accountant, and other support professionals all dedicated to the enhancement of your experience. Below is a picture of my office.
